Mission statement

In class 3 we will work together to grow. We will be proactive and listen carefully. We will seek to become lifelong learners by questioning what we see, hear and do. We will show respect and honesty to others through the teaching of religion.

Class Three outdoor learning
Class Three enjoyed taking their learning outside, mixing mud and water to practise skills used in the Stone Age.

Creative home learning
Class Three tried really hard with their home learning creating their own caves.

Class Three enjoyed researching and recreating cave paintings and methods that were used within the Stone Age.

Super home learning
Some pupils within Class Three designed and created models of volcanoes within their October half-term.

Topic
Class Three was full of news presenters today as we provided information about the Mt Vesuvius natural disaster.

Art - Pointillism
We drew our own volcanoes and used the skill of pointillism to complete our creations using cotton buds.

Maths - Fractions
Class Three have used their fraction knowledge to create fraction plates so that we can share what we know.

We used the story of Noah's Ark in the old testament to create freeze-frames to help us understand the text further.

Science - forces
Class Three progressed from magnetism to gravity, participating in experiments to view its affect.

Class Three have been practising their rugby skills with James, who will be with us until Easter.

World Book Day 2017
We had lots of fun celebrating World Book Day. We dressed as our favorite characters, made book recommendations, used drama to act scenes from Alice In Wonderland, and we made jam tarts and jam sandwiches.

Class Three Family Service
Class Three tried super hard to remember their lines and present their facts about Lent to the school and their parents. Well done!

Finance
We learned all about finance with Lloyds Bank who helped us understand the importance of saving and storing our money.

Pedestrian Training
Class Three learnt about road safety and the 'Green Cross Code'. We took our learning outside, where we practiced crossing the roads safely.

We celebrated science week in style by watching and participating in an amazing science show.

The whole school participated in a range of science activities to end Science Week. KS2 visited each classroom and worked with many different teachers

Easter Egg competition
Well done to Class 3 for their fantastic egg designs. Muhammed was our class 3 winner with his amazing Easter garden!

Greek Temples
Some children were very busy in the Eater holidays. They designed and made their own Greek temples, looking very carefully at their structure.

Equivalent Fractions
we tried really hard to present our own equivalent fraction wall. We had to make sure that each part was equal.

James and the Giant Peach Debate
Class 3 participated in a debate, arguing whether or not James should crawl into the hole in the peach.

Ancient Greek Olympic Mosaics
We chose an ancient Olympic item and designed and created our own mosaics. They look fantastic!

Mass in Maths
Class Three used their knowledge of mass to read scales in order to bake some chocolate chip cookies.

Missing James!!
Class Three are very concerned that they can not find James or any of his friends. We know that the peach has landed at Batley Parish from the clues that they have left, but they are nowhere to be seen!! so please keep a look out.

Balanced Meals
In science we have been looking at nutrition. Using our knowledge we designed and made a balance meal.

Greek Debate.
Home teams researched and presented a Greek God/Godess of their choice who they believed was the most powerful. They had to convince us all why through their facts and findings.

Greek Day!!
Class Three had a fun day making Greek shields and necklaces, participating in Greek Olympic Games, and tasting some Greek style food.

3D Fun
We used marshmallows and sticks to construct 3D shapes in Maths. Marshmallows represented vertices and the sticks represented the edges. We even got to eat the leftovers afterwards ...

Growing Investigation
Class Three wanted to know where the best area in school was to grow plants. We found through our investigation, that it was near Nursery!

Egg and Cress Picnic
We used the cress that we grew to make egg and cress sandwiches with Class 1. We looked at what other foods grow in the ground or on plants and trees and had a picnic with some of these foods in the sun!

Manchester Science and Industry Museum
Class Three participated in a 'Wonder of Light' workshop where we looked at magical science tricks. We Had an amazing day looking around the museum and experimenting.

Pen licence pride

Roald Dahl Day

Class 3 celebrated Roald Dahl’s 100th birthday on the 13th of September 2016. We dressed up as characters from his stories and focused our learning on ‘The Twits’. We created amazing anti-twit poems and solved measurement problems for Mrs Twit’s walking stick. We also drew a character based on Roald Dahl’s Mr Twit description, presenting our work in our reading corner.
