Welcome to Class 3

Mission Statement

In class 3 we will show love and respect to our friends and teachers. We will always be kind and helpful. We will try our best and persevere with our work even when we find it difficult. We will be friendly and ensure that everyone is included and always has a friend. We will do this by following our Christian values.

Class Three Representatives 

Class Three are proud to introduce you to our school councilors and Class governor. They work very hard to ensure that our voice is heard within school.

Things to Remember  

In order to allow your child to access all aspects of their learning throughout the week, they need to remember these things everyday:

  • Book bag 
  • Reading record book
  • PE kit (Wednesdays and Thursdays)   

Homework 

Every week your child will be given English, Maths and spelling homework on a Tuesday.  They have a homework grid in their books to track what they have completed whilst also highlighting ongoing projects that are linked to their current topics. Homework is a way of keeping you informed about what your child has been learning throughout the week, whilst also allowing them to practise methods and skills that they have been taught.  We would greatly appreciate it if homework is returned for the following Monday so that we are able to mark and return it on time. 

Spellings 

Children will recieve spellings on a Tuesday based on the new 'No Nonsense' spelling scheme that has being introduced to support childrens learning. Spelling patterns are learnt and revised throughout the week, alongside teaching children fun and engaging methods to practise  their spellings so that they are more memorable.

Creative Cave Paintings
In Class Three we have being looking at 'why cave paintings were produced in the Stone Age'. We researched, planned and create our own design then as a group we presented our own story to tell. We think they look amazing around our classroom!

Healthy Living Week.
This week children across school have being learning about healthy living. Class 3 and 4 worked together to learn and present information found.

Stone Age Food Hunt
Class Three are looking at the enquiry question 'Did everyone hunt for their food in the Stone Age'? We went on a walk around the school fields, hunting for our own images of foods that Stone Age people ate.

Fantastic Homework!
Children in class 3 have being very creative at home with their parents! They have designed and made their own caves. They have worked really hard to make their super models!

Stone Age Menu
We have designed and made food that include a prehistoric ingredient. We were very creative and used lots of different materials.

Anti-Bullying Week
Class Three discussed what it means to be 'All different, All equal'. We made a class chain that shows what makes us unique, whilst symbolising that we are all important and contribute to making this class stronger.

Sweet Stone Age
Sweets were used to create models of Stonehenge. These amazing pieces of homework were very delicious!

Scotch Egg Science
We cut open scotch eggs in Science to compare them to our planet. We identified the core, mantle and crust.

Carry My Story
Class Three were very excited to receive an identity map back from their friends at St Peter's Primary School.

Pebble in my Pocket
We used descriptive lines within the book to create beautiful images of volcanic eruptions.

Active Planet
Class 3 researched the main parts of a volcano and then created our own diagram through a range of methods.

Internet Safety Day
We discussed how we can 'create, connect and share respect' online. We found links between everyone in class and what may upset us when using social media.

Batley Town Hall
Class 3 visited Batley Town Hall where we met the Mayor of Kirklees and other important members of the council. We were very excited to learn about their role in our community.

Science Day
Children in class 3 had an amazing day. We designed and made a way to protect our eggs and then looked at the work of scientists who focused on forces.

Topic Learning Together
Many of our parents joined in with our enquiry based learning. We looked at viking patterns, designed our own shield and created a shield out of a range of materials.

Pedestrian Training
Class Three have being learning about how to cross the road safely. We talked about the Green Cross Code and found safe places to cross the road.

Jorvik Viking Center
We had an amazing time in York! We participated in 2 workshops where we looked at Viking Sagas and Viking battle tactics. We were then shown round the Jorvik Viking center.
